Mounjaro® – Weekly Injection Pen – Weight Loss Support in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire

Weight loss medication guide

At McMinns Pharmacy in Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, we’re proud to offer Mounjaro®—a breakthrough weekly weight loss injection now available privately in Scotland.

If you’ve struggled with your weight despite trying diet and exercise, Mounjaro (tirzepatide) may help you achieve safe and sustainable results with professional support from our trained team.

What Is Mounjaro?

Mounjaro® is a newly approved weight loss medication, developed by Eli Lilly, and now available in the UK for private prescription. It comes in pre-filled weekly injection pens, each pen containing 4 doses of tirzepatide.

Originally approved for treating type 2 diabetes, Mounjaro is now licensed for weight loss in adults with obesity or overweight-related health conditions.

How it works:
Mounjaro reduces your appetite and slows the rate at which your stomach empties, making you feel fuller for longer and helping reduce calorie intake.

When used alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, Mounjaro supports gradual and sustainable weight loss.

How Does Mounjaro Work?

Mounjaro contains the active ingredient tirzepatide, a dual GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist. This means it mimics two naturally occurring hormones that regulate hunger and blood sugar:

  • GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) helps reduce appetite and improve fullness

  • GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) supports energy expenditure and insulin sensitivity

Unlike other injections like Wegovy® or Saxenda®, which act only on GLP-1 receptors, Mounjaro works on both GLP-1 and GIP—making it potentially more effective for weight loss.

In addition to helping with weight reduction, losing weight with Mounjaro can improve your insulin response and lower blood sugar levels.
