Stay protected during flu season

As flu season approaches in Scotland, it’s more important than ever to protect yourself and your loved ones with a flu jab. At McMinns Pharmacy in Wishaw, we offer quick and convenient flu vaccinations to keep Lanarkshire healthy this winter.

Why You Need the Flu Jab

The flu virus changes every year, which is why an annual flu shot is recommended. It helps reduce the risk of severe illness, hospitalisation, and complications — especially for vulnerable groups like the elderly, children, and those with chronic conditions.

Whether you call it a flu jab, flu shot, or flu jag — the goal is the same: to protect your immune system against circulating strains of the influenza virus.

Who Should Get the Flu Vaccine

The flu vaccine is strongly recommended for:

Adults over 50

• People with long-term health conditions

• Pregnant women

• Carers

• Frontline healthcare workers

• Children aged 2–5

• School-aged children (through school vaccination programmes)

At McMinns Pharmacy, we offer both private flu and covid vaccinations for adults and businesses across Wishaw, Motherwell, and the wider Lanarkshire area.

Flu and COVID: Double Protection Matters

Flu and COVID-19 can circulate together, leading to increased pressure on the NHS. Getting your flu jab reduces your risk of co-infection and helps keep our local Lanarkshire communities safer.
